I sometimes like to look back and see how my Gmodstore sales have performed. I think it gives me a bit of a unique view on the trend of Garry’s Mod. Server owners need these mods, and since I sell some of the best-selling mods in specific categories, they are a good indicator of the game's overall trend.
This year, I wanted to share these findings with you. So, please, join me on this dive into my 2025 Gmodstore revenue breakdown.
Sales By Product
I’m sure this is the bit you care about the most, so I’ll start with it. How much did each product make, how much went to Gmodstore’s commission, other co-authors and then ultimately, me?
pCams has performed below what I had expected, but I would not consider it a failure. It was released in January 2025, so the statistics here are basically its whole lifetime. Its performance is dwarfed in comparison to pVault and pCasino. Back in 2018, pVault made 100 sales in 3 weeks. pCasino did 81 sales in its launch week in 2020. So if I were to compare it directly to these, then you could maybe consider it a failure. But there are 2 things to factor here.
- The mod is a bit more niche. A bank heist/casino is almost a must-have for any server, CCTV camera is definitely an afterthought, especially when gmod has the built-in camera tool.
- 2018 and 2020 were definitely more around the golden age of gmod, so it is definitely a lot trickier to pull similar figures in more modern times.
I consider it a success because I think it meets the quality set by the other 2 addons, and it did sell well enough for my liking.
And that just leaves Squish Logs. This product I would absolutely consider a failure through and through. It has monthly recurring costs, but I only charge a 1 time fee. It is priced aggressively low to compete with the bLogs monopoly, yet people still choose bLogs (bLogs is just a better product). The upkeep and maintenance of the servers are my problem. All round a regretful decision. I disabled the product for purchase a few months ago, which will also impact these stats, but I doubt it would have gotten even 5 additional sales if I hadn’t. I have definitely taken a loss on this product in 2025 if you take server costs and deduct from the “profit”.
Month-By-Month Breakdown
Interesting to see the October peak a bit this year. I have not seen this happen historically. Normally, there is a downward trend from September and then a spike in December, so I’m not sure why this has happened this year. Seems there wasn’t much of an increase in sales around the summer either. Sometimes there will be a noticeable fluctuation around August/September when the summer holidays are in full swing, but not this year.
Conclusion
pCasino and pVault continue to provide, years after their creation. They are very stable products, and we rarely get support tickets. Normally, January would be in line with the Feb - Jun sales, but pCams disrupts this. Squish Logs is now disabled, and I will sunset it sometime this year, probably releasing an open source copy of the code so buyers don't feel totally scammed.
With s&box right around the corner, I anticipate this being the near end for Gmodstore. Maybe I will pivot to s&box mods, maybe I'll move on to a different game, maybe this was just a one-off opportunity. Only time will tell.
